James was channeling a little Stevie Wonder tonight.

First word!

Eli said his first word this afternoon. Not "mama" or "dada", but "Alison". That's right, he decided to just skip to a three syllable word.

I'm trying something new. I managed to record Eli talking today, and through a strange multipart process, I think I have the recording posted online. Click the player below to listen!

A whole new kid

Summer's here and we started it off by getting Alison's hair cut. It was finally long enough (and then some) to donate to Locks of Love. We went to Whipper Snippers this morning - Jennifer took Alison inside while I slept in the car with Eli.

After:

After all was said and done, the stylist took 14 inches of hair off!

Meanwhile, I'm beginning to think that Eli's just about ready to start singing "Philadelphia Freedom". Shine a light.

Swimming

Okay, so before all the storms...we spent Saturday afternoon out at Buffalo River State Park with Ryan and Jodi and their kids Henry and Eva. It was a nice day and the kids were able to go in the swimming hole. It's a nice sized pond with a sand bottom, but with the cool spring this year the water was a little brisk.

Sirens

Other pictures to post later, but here are some pictures of our first tornado warning of the year. There was a doppler-indicated tornado 6 miles NW of us, with some "other" activity reported. Here's a few pictures.

Soggy feet

After a short rain delay, the Fargo YMCA Chase Race was held tonight. This was my first organized 5K and I'm happy to report that I am still, in fact, alive. I finished with a time of 27:43, so I'm pretty happy with that. Jennifer and the kids played in the park while I ran and cheered me on at the end.

Memorial Day a little late

Had a quick run to Iowa for Memorial Day weekend and our nephew Sam's baptism. On the way back, Alison helped Grandpa put out the flag for Memorial Day.

Eli got his first haircut at 11 months. Now that it's cut he looks more like a little boy than a baby. Scary.

The weather has been a little spotty lately. It seems like there's always a thunderstorm on the way.

It's making it a bit difficult to prepare for the Y 5K on Thursday night, but somehow I've managed to keep running just about every other day. In between running days I've taken up biking again, and even commuted to work today. It's about 11.5 miles one way, and it's a very nice ride IF the wind isn't blowing.
